The only time your hair ever looks fresh out of the salon is after a haircut. It makes me sad.
I barely learned how to use a curling iron the correct way about 3 years ago, and I’m not exactly sure how I survived before that. I made my hair dead straight with a straightener, or I’d curl it with a curling iron. Anything else was just out of my abilities.
My coworker’s hair always seemed like it just had a blow-out, but when I asked her who did her hair, she just said, “me!” I interrogated her and she swore up and down that she used a barrel brush and a blow dryer. For any of you who’ve tried giving yourself a blow-out with these 2 tools, you know how hard and time-consuming it is.
I did some research and found some hair tools that helped give blow outs, but a lot of them either broke really easily, or tangled your hair. But I finally found THE one!
John Frieda Salon Shape Hot Air Brush is the perfect solution. Unlike other hot air brushes, this one doesn’t rotate. I like this because I don’t have to worry about hair getting snagged (or the item breaking). I haven’t tried the 1-inch, but I’ve found that the 1.5-inch is perfect for creating volume in my long layers.
Using the brush is really easy:
- Separate hair into top and bottom half, clipping up the top section
- Spray hair with a heat protectant
- Slowly run brush through small sections of hair, curling the brush at the ends
I try not to rush when it comes to blow-drying, because working too fast results in frizz. Doing my make-up while allowing my hair to air-dry a bit also helps cut time in half.
The John Frieda Salon Shape Hot Air Brush is available for $29.99 brand new on Amazon, but I was able to snag an open-box one for $26.99. The retail packaging was a bit torn (as described on the product description), but the item itself was completely intact. I’ve used it for about a year now, and it’s still in great condition! With novelty items like this, I was worried it would break extremely easily, especially for the price tag.
For people looking to create volume and sleek hair right out of the shower, I definitely suggest giving this brush a try!
