If you follow designer trends, you might be familiar with the famous French brand, Chloé. Featuring pastel colors and simple shapes, Chloé screams forever springtime, yet ironically every piece is compatible with any outfit from all four seasons.

One of the hottest designer pieces of the moment from Chloé is the Faye bag. It can double both as a shoulder bag or a clutch, and its unique shape makes a subtle yet bold statement purse. This versatile bag compliments every outfit and looks great in every color.

Unfortunately, the medium Faye retails at $1,950, while the small Faye shoulder bag can be purchased for around $1,390. The small wallet? $795.

You know here at The Baller on a Budget we don’t pay anywhere near that price, but we still get quality goods. That’s why I found this amazing Chloé Faye dupe for only $68.50.

A note for new readers: I’m a sucker for designer trends just as much as the next gal, but the price tags are far out of my budget just like many other people. I have to confess that I do love a good dupe – they fit in with the current trends and are at affordable price points that don’t break the bank. Besides, who’d want to save up for months on end and buy an investment piece only to fall out of trend within a month of owning it? Designer fashion is simply impractical for us who hard for a modest living.

Before you go on, I always want to clarify something before talking about dupes: they aren’t fakes or knockoffs. While I won’t get to the meat and potatoes of the controversial dupe vs. fake discussion, I actually have a previous blog post that I wrote about designer dupes and how they positively affect the fashion market: click here to read.

This gorgeous purse was part 2 of a Christmas gift I’d asked Jun for and was well within his Christmas budget. He bought me an amazing Hermés Birkin dupe for $67.07 through AliExpress last month but the packaging was mediocre at best, so I was a bit worried about experiencing the same poor packaging. However, this AliExpress seller won me over!

Pros

  • Price
  • Soft genuine calfskin leather and suede
  • Quality hardware
  • Stiff structure that prevents sagging
  • Immaculate stitching
  • Packaged securely

The purse arrived in a cardboard box, securely wrapped in bubble wrap. The purse was also packed in a dust bag and came with a detachable leather strap for the times you want to convert over to a shoulder bag.

The hardware isn’t cheap or lightweight at all – I was amazed at how sturdy the metal was! The magnetic snaps also function seamlessly, a feature I was worried about since many of my previous purses with magnetic snaps never seemed to shut right. With the dense weight of the suede flap closure, this purse securely snaps shut.

The suede is extremely soft, and the leather is sturdy enough to prevent any future sagging. For safe-keeping, I kept the bubble wrap and fold it inside the purse to hold its shape and kept it stored away in the dust bag.

Cons

  • Long shipping time
  • Difference in hardware color

I couldn’t find much to complain about, aside from the extended shipping time of about 2-3 weeks since it came from China. To be honest, I was extremely impressed with the craftsmanship of this bag.

One thing that could potentially bother some people is that the front clip is silver instead of gold. But honestly, with the gold being so faint, it’s hardly noticeable.

Fail-safe, fake-safe: This purse has no logos or badging claiming to be a genuine authentic Chloé Faye. I’m sure that you know that purchasing counterfeit goods coined as the real thing is illegal, due to trademarking and copyright infringement. If you ever see something with a designer logo or branding on it and it’s not real, stay away. You can get sued for that. This purse is safe.

Although this bag does not have a Chloé logo at the front flap like its designer counterpart does, it does feature a small embossed “Lacattura” logo on the inside. Hardly a bother for me, since nobody really has business poking and prodding around in my purse anyway.

Lacattura’s medium-sized purse can be purchased here on AliExpress.

Another Chloé inspired alternative I found from the same brand is available on Amazon for $48.99; however, this is the mini shoulder purse. Bonus: It comes with free two-day shipping for Amazon Prime members! If you don’t have Amazon Prime, no worries – you can try it free for 30 days through my link.

Hi! how would you know if it is real leather?

You can tell it’s real leather by how it wrinkles – if it’s leather, the folds will wrinkle and take a few seconds before bouncing back. You can also tell by the smell too or if it absorbs water, rather than sitting on the top like it would with a synthetic material.
