Everybody knows that the holidays often mean your weekend evenings are booked with parties for your friends and family.
This year my friends and I tried to be better about having dinner parties whenever we’re all back home. After high school everybody went their separate ways and moved away, so with our work and school schedules it can be tough to make a single date work for us all.
Since our time together is rare, we really wanted to bring our get-togethers up a notch and start cooking and making drinks instead of relying on take-out, fast-food, and I daresay, our parent’s home-cooking (we love our Filipino parent’s cooking, but it’s about time we grew up and learned how to do these things ourselves). So for Thanksgiving, we had a “Friendsgiving” celebration and I took up the responsibility of supplying the drinks. With careful planning I was able to craft some affordable and quality cocktails (my favorite recipes and budget alcohol can be found here) with a few products I snagged from Elite Deal Club, all for less than $3 each.

I’ve been on a roll with collecting copper mugs through EDC, since they’ve been having several deals on them already. These mugs are definitely 100% copper, but the handles are different than the image on the Amazon product listing. Nonetheless, the mugs work as great as any copper mug does – keeps your drinks extremely cold, and makes them taste much better! I honestly don’t know the science behind altering the taste, but I feel like you get the same satisfaction from drinking Coke out of a glass bottle instead of the plastic one.
Since these mugs are made of copper, it’s important to prevent tarnishing by hand-washing and hand-drying them. I was stupid enough to put it in the dishwasher. However, cleaning it off with some lemon and salt will remove the blemishes very quickly.

I absolutely hate when ice melts into my drinks, so I love ice cube replacements! It might be hard to use these for something like a party, but if it’s just you and a friend, or just yourself (hey, I have a drink by myself after a hard day, no shame in that!), these stones are godsends. Simply keep them in the freezer and use them as ice in your drinks.
You do taste a little bit of the stones in your drinks, which is why I’m assuming they’d probably be used better when sipping on darker liquors like whiskey. Make sure to clean them thoroughly afterwards, because a few customers have stated that these stones sometimes carry flavors into other drinks.

I’ve really picky when it comes to cocktail shakers because too many times have I shaken them only to spill drinks all over me and smell like an alcoholic. Surprisingly, upon looking at my Amazon order history, I already previously purchased this same exact shaker in the past before it went missing. This shaker locks on tight and prevents spills better than any shaker I’ve ever used – that’s why I was devastated when I lost my first one. Luckily, EDC had the same one.
This shaker also comes with a double jigger to measure out alcohol as well as a stirring spoon. An additional bonus: it comes with a mini pamphlet of cocktail recipes.

I’m barely getting into red wines and learning all about quality and taste, so my opinion may be a bit on the novice side. This wine aerator is said to be comparable to the Vintorio aerator, a popular favorite amongst wine connoisseurs.
I opened up a bottle of some whatever-grocery-store red wine I had in the cabinet with Jun’s mother, and we tried a glass of aerated wine alongside a plain glass of wine. There definitely a difference! The aerated wine was smoother and had less of a bite. This is definitely a must-have for any wine enthusiast you know.
